How do we create our coffee shop menu?
Howdy Space Cadets,
It has been a wild first couple of years and I would first like to thank you for all the support. It has been an out of this world experience all around. As we continue our search through the cosmos for damn fine coffee we would like to explain our menu a little bit. Most people ask “Where do you come up with this”? Did it come to you in a dream? Are we just making stuff up now?
We have broken the menu up into two parts. The first part being “I am kinda a coffee snob”. This we have taken from our experiences at other shops around the US, and education through channels like the SCA (specialty coffee association) and more. This consists of a blend of traditional-style espresso menu, with the modern American double-shot. We use the traditional style ratios for the cortados, cappuccinos and lattes, and pair them with all of our house made syrups. Our goal is to uphold the industry standards for those who love coffee and need that consistency. For example ordering a cortado and receiving equal parts espresso to steamed milk and getting the right texture and temperature in your drink. The current espresso offering includes our Colombia EA decaf and our Delagua honey processed coffee.
The second part of our menu labeled “Also Me” which is the coffee connoisseur but also likes a fun little bev to get them through the afternoon. This menu is made up of fun signature style drinks which aren’t just another syrup flavor in a latte. We take inspiration from our journeys in coffee competition including the US Coffee Championships and the cold brew championship at CoffeeFest. We have fun cocktail inspired drinks. Some of the current ones are the Finn and Jake which is our play on a jack n coke. A coffee soda using Non-alcoholic whiskey, cola flavored syrup, our espresso and garnished with luxardo cherries. We also have The Great Northern which is our play on an Irish coffee using our filter brewed drip coffee, Non-alcoholic whiskey, our maple bourbon syrup and layered with a shaken heavy cream. These fun cocktail inspired drinks attract a variety of people looking for something innovative and out of this world.
Sharing our ideas with our local coffee community has been very rewarding. As we continue we have also had the opportunity to watch our customers connect with each other and this has filled a gap for a true Vista coffee shop experience.
Cheers,
See you space cowboy…
